Figure 8-1 Waterproof Electrical Connections
It is VERY important to seal all probe and sensor connections in the
junction box to prevent corrosion of the wires.
1. Twist bare ends of wires together.
2. Secure the connection with a wire nut.
CAUTION: DO NOT use electrical tape on any connections! Tape
prevents proper sealing of the epoxy.
3. Waterproof the connections with the supplied
SCOTCHCAST™ epoxy resin Insulating Resin Seal packs.
They are provided to seal the electrical connections from
moisture and water and prevent corrosion of the
connections. Install one for each cable connection.
4. Bend the seal pack until the barrier between the two resins
weakens.
5. Force the clear and the black resins together and mix
thoroughly.
6. Move the mixture to one end of pack, then clip the other end.
7. Insert wires, wire nuts and the cable insulation end into the
seal pack.
8. Work the resin mixture into the ends of the wire nuts and
around both cable jackets.
Secure the seal pack around the cables with a tie
wrap and cable tie.
