3-8 Settingpoleshoeairgaps
1. Loosen two bolts (A) and insert Module air gap
gauge: 91004 (B) or 0.3 - 0.4 mm (0.012 - 0.016
in) thick feeler gauge between ywheel (C) and ig-
nition coil shoes (D).
2. Rotate ywheel (C) until magnetic poles of y-
wheel face ignition coil shoes (D).
3. Hold ignition coil against ywheel (C) and tight-
en the bolts (A) (Refer to “3-7 Replacing ignition
coil”). After tightening bolts, remove Module air gap
gauge: 91004 (B) or feeler gauge.
NOTE: When air gap is too narrow, contact with
ywheel may result. When the air gap is too wide,
spark is weak.
4. Reassemble all removed parts.

3-9 Inspectingyweelandkey
1. Inspect magnetic force of ywheel (A) using ux
meter, or screwdriver (B) as shown.
2. If magnetic force is weak, replace ywheel (A)
as follows.
3. Open cap cover (C). Disconnect spark plug cap
and remove spark plug.
4. Install clean rope (D) in spark plug hole (E) to
stop crankshaft rotation.
NOTE: Do not use piston stopper to avoid piston
damage.
5. Remove nut (F) by rotating counterclockwise.
NOTE: Do not use power tool to remove nut (F).
Otherwise, piston damage may occur.
