o Early Start --
if checked, the VPN gateway will start key negotiation
when user clicks the "Apply" button or when the gateway reboots. If
unchecked, the local gateway will defer the key negotiation until the
remote VPN gateway starts key negotiation or a packet from the
protected local network attempts to pass through the tunnel.
Select Early Start and page will refresh with Keepalive Ping
settings.
o Keepalive Ping (Optional) --
the IP address of a host that
belongs to the remote protected VPN. The system sends pings
to this address to detect VPN tunnels that are down and renew
those tunnels automatically. Keepalive ping is active only when
user enables Early Start. To disable this feature, leave the fields
blank or disable Early Start.

DHCP Server

The system can act as a DHCP server granting IP addresses to devices in the
network. DHCP is a protocol that enables PCs and workstations to get
temporary or permanent IP addresses (out of a pool) from centrally
administered servers. The user can configure blocks of IP addresses, default
gateway, DNS servers and other parameters that can be served to requesting
devices. This feature can be disabled, for example if a DHCP server exists
elsewhere in the company network.
DHCP on your system does not have to be enabled if a DHCP server exists
elsewhere in your company network. At least one DHCP server must exist on
an accessible network. Once you have enabled the DHCP server, you can turn
it on or off using the Enable DHCP Server box without having to change other
settings.

To test for other DHCP Servers click the “Test for other DHCP
Servers”
o Lease Duration --
Enter the number of days you want to lease the
DHCP service in the Lease Duration box. The number of days is the
