Flow Measurement System Version 1.00 page 46 of 75
The calibration factor can be adjusted in a range from 0.5 to 1.5 in 0.01 steps with the
default value being 1.00. The internally derived flow value is multiplied with the factor.
The result is used to display the actual flow value on the different interface(s).
In order to do a custom calibration you can set up a circulation loop and compare the actual
flow values with the values of a reference device. The reference device can either be
another flow meter or you can perform a timed collection of the flow.
Please note: the timed collection can also have a measurement error
depending on the collection time (measurement) and accuracy of the used
scale; generally the measurement error is diminished by a longer collection
time.
We recommend doing the custom calibration procedure for at least two different flow
rates, ideally in the typical flow range of your application.
With the first flow rate flow you compare the flow value with the reference device (or
timed collection) and adjust the calibration factor till both values match. With the second
flow rate you can check if both values still match in this range.
Please always ensure (as for any other measurements), that the system had enough time to
reach a stable temperature profile and that zeroing was done properly.
Please note: due to the different physical properties of liquids it cannot be
guaranteed that the calibration factor is valid for the complete flow range
of a sensor given in the datasheet. This can be checked with a reference
device or timed collection.
