8.3 Troubleshooting
If you experience any problems with the flow measurement system, please try the
following solutions:
Problem
Meaning / Solution
LED is not on
(only BioProTT™
FlowTrack and
BioProTT™
FlowTrack DINrail)
Power supply may be disconnected. Please check correct power
supply see chapter BASIC CONSIDERATIONS AND
POWERING OF FLOW METER AND 4-20 MA CIRCUITS
If after correct power supply switching on and off leads to the
same behavior device needs to be serviced
Display is blank or
hangs
(only BioProTT™
FlowTrack plus)
Power supply may be disconnected. Please check correct power
supply; see chapter INITIAL SET UP.
If after correct power supply switching on and off leads to the
same behavior device needs to be serviced,
Unexpected change
of RSS / acoustic
coupling value
One potential cause for this behavior could change the
calibration table without ensuring that the new calibration
parameters like temperature or tubing material have been
adjusted to the selected calibration table.
Please check and adjust accordingly.
“on”/”off” flow
reading (toggling
values)
A potential cause for a flow reading that toggles between an
actual value (“on”) and no value (“off”) can be disturbances in
the flow like small bubbles.
Please ensure that the medium is bubble free and apply acoustic
couplant. In case of a couplant used, check calibration conditions
and if necessary perform a custom calibration with check for
calibration factor.
Flow reading with
no flow present
Zero offset again and make sure that the liquid is NOT in motion
during zeroing.
Flow meter gets
very warm
Switch device off and let it cool down. Check if the flow meter
is exposed to an external heat source / direct sun radiation or if it
is covered up so that no heat can be dissipated. Change location
accordingly.
Digital Output
Erroneous offset on
flow reading
- The calibration factor might have to be re-adjusted
- Tubing might be out of specification
- Wrong temperature range
- Check offset with no flow in tubing and perform zeroing again
No reading on
digital interface
- Ensure that connector cable is not broken
- Ensure proper fit of plug connector
- Ensure correct adapters (e.g. from RS 232 to USB) and that the
PC program (e.g. LabView) is correctly reading the serial port
connected to the flow meter
Analogue Output
Flow Output
0 mA
A reading of 0 mA could indicate the following:
- broken circuit
- missing power supply for the current loop; usually power is
