Flow limit
The diameter of the pipe and the flow rate determine the nominal diameter of the sensor. The optimum velocity
of flow is between 2 to 3 m/s (6.56 to 9.84 ft/s). Also match the velocity of flow (v) to the physical properties
of the fluid:
v < 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): for abrasive fluids (e.g. potter's clay, lime milk, ore slurry)
v > 2 m/s (6.56 ft/s): for fluids producing buildup (e.g. wastewater sludges)
For an overview of the measuring range full scale values, see the "Measuring range" section (® ä 5)
Pressure loss
No pressure loss occurs if the sensor is installed in a pipe with the same nominal diameter.
Pressure losses for configurations incorporating adapters according to DIN EN 545 (® ä 20)
System pressure
Never install the sensor on the pump suction side in order to avoid the risk of low pressure, and thus damage
to the liner.
Furthermore, install pulse dampers if reciprocating, diaphragm or peristaltic pumps are used.
