untiltheenginehascooleddown.Tore-engagethe
PTO,pushPTOswitchintothedisengagedposition
andthenpullouttoengage.RefertotheEngine
overheatsintheTroubleshootingsection.
CoolantTemperatureGauge
Locatedatthefrontoftheleftfueltank.
Thecoolanttemperaturegaugemonitorsthe
temperatureoftheenginecoolant.Anengine
overheatingconditionisindicatedbytheredarea
onthegauge.AnalarmwillsoundandthePTO
willdisengage.RefertotheWarningBuzzerinthe
Troubleshootingsection.
Note:Iftheenginecoolantlevelisbelowthe
indicatorlineontheoverowbottlewhentheengine
iscold,thecoolanttemperaturegaugemaynot
registercorrectlyduringoperation.RefertoCheck

Voltmeter
LocatednexttotheCoolantTemperatureGaugeat
thefrontoftheleftfueltank.
Thevoltmetermeasurethevoltageoutputofthe
alternator.Bothhighandlowvoltageswillpotentially
damagethebattery.
GlowPlugSwitchandLight
Locatedontherightfueltank.
Depressandholdtheswitchtoheattheglowplugs.
Theglowpluglightcomesonwhentheglowplug
switchisdepressed.Theglowpluglightindicatesthe
glowplugsarepreheatingthecombustionchamber.
LowOilPressureLight
Locatedontherightfueltank.
Lightwillcomeonwhenengineoilpressureislow
orlost.
WarningBuzzer
Locatedbehindtheseatundertheairdeectoron
theelectricalpanel.
Thebuzzerisawarningsignalthattheengine
isoverheatingortheoilpressureislow.Seethe
Troubleshootingsection.
Note:Iftheenginecoolantlevelisbelowthe
indicatorlineontheoverowbottlewhentheengine
iscold,thewarningbuzzermaynotsoundifthe

Locatedattherightfrontcorneroftheoorpan.
Pushthepedalforwardwithyourfoottoraisethe
cuttingdeck.Allowthepedaltomoverearwardto
lowerthecuttingdecktothecutheightthathasbeen
set.

Fillfueltankonlevelground.
Makesureyouunderstandthecontrols,their
locations,theirfunctions,andtheirsafety
requirements.
RefertotheMaintenancesectionandperformallthe
necessaryinspectionandmaintenancesteps.
DeterminingFuel
Theenginerunsonclean,freshdieselfuelwith
aminimumoctaneratingof40.Purchasefuelin
quantitiesthatcanbeusedwithin30daystoensure
fuelfreshness.
Usesummergradedieselfuel(No.2-D)at
temperaturesabove20°F(-7°C)andwintergrade
dieselfuel(No.1-DorNo.1-D/2-Dblend)below
20°F(-7°C).Useofwintergradedieselfuelatlower
temperaturesprovideslowerashpointandpour
pointcharacteristics,thereforeeasingstartabilityand
lesseningchancesofchemicalseparationofthefuel
duetolowertemperatures(waxappearance,which
maypluglters).
Useofsummergradedieselfuelabove20°F(-7°C)
willcontributetowardlongerlifeofthepump
components.
