Stopengine,waitforallmovingpartstostopand
removekey.Engageparkingbrake.
Tiltseatandremoveairdeectorpanel
Totightenalternatorbelt,loosenbothupperand
loweralternatormountingbolts.Rotatealternator
out,awayfromengineandretightenhardwareto
secureinplace.
Whenproperlytensioned,thealternatorbeltwill
deect1/4to3/8inch(7-9mm)whileapplying22
poundsofforcetothebeltmidwaybetweenfanand
alternator.
BeltGuideAdjustment
1.Stopengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removekey.Engageparkingbrake.
2.Removethebeltshieldontherightsideofmower
deck.
3.Notebeltguideboltedtodeckneartheshield
supportstudandright-handpulley.Guideshould
be1/8inch(3.2mm)awayfromthebelt,with
bolt-endofguidenearendofslot(
Figure21).
4.Ifadjustmentisnecessary,loosentheboltsecuring
thebeltguideandmakeproperadjustment.

Every500hoursthereafter
Checktomakesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.This
proceduremustbefollowedaftertherst100hours
orwhenabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),move
themotioncontrolleverstotheneutrallocked
positionandsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andremovethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
