CAUTION
Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
theunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Engagetheparkingbrake(leverup).
8.Loosenthejamnut(item9inFigure22)just
abovethetrunnionroller2-3turns.

9.Tightenthebottomnylocnut(item3inFigure22)
untilthebrakespringiscompletelycompressed,
thenloosenone-halfturn.
10.Tightenthejamnutagainstthetrunnionroller
11.Checktheclearancebetweenthebottomofthe
brakebracketandthenylocnutjustunderthe
spring.Clearanceshouldmeasure1/8to3/16
inch(3.2-4.8mm).Ifnecessary,adjustthenyloc
nutaccordingly.
12.Ifthecorrectgapcannolongerbeachieved
becausethereisnoclearancebetweenthenyloc
nutbelowthespringandthejamnut,orthere
arenothreadsleftinthebottomnylocnut,the
lengthofthebrakerodcanbeadjusted.Remove
apinfromayokeateitherendofthebrakerod
andlengthen(orshorten)thebrakeroduntilthe
correctgapcanbeachieved.
13.Ifabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced,seethestepsbelow;otherwiseproceed
tostep

BurnishingtheBrakeProcedure:
A.Cleartheareaofanyammablematerial
beforestartingtheburnishingprocess.
B.Whilesittingintheoperator’sseat,startthe
engine,andreleasetheparkbrake.
WARNING
Enginemustberunninganddrivewheels
mustbeturningsoadjustmentscanbe
performed.Contactwithmovingpartsor
hotsurfacesmaycausepersonalinjury.
Keepngers,hands,andclothingclearof
rotatingcomponentsandhotsurfaces.
C.Increasethethrottletohighidle.
D.Bringbothdriveleversoutofneutraland
pushthemintofullforwardposition.
E.Pulltheparkbrakeleverupuntiltheengine
rpmstartstodrop.Holdtheparkbrakelever
inthispositionfor15seconds.
F.Releasethebrakelever.
G.Movethedriveleversintothefullreverse
position.RepeatstepsEandF.
H.Movethedriveleversbacktotheneutrallock
position.
I.Returnthethrottletolowidle,andstopthe
engine.
J.Allowthebrakebandsanddrumstocool.
Repeatsteps
7through11.
14.Installthetiresandtorquethelugnutsto90-95
ft-lb(122-129N-m).
15.Removethejackstands.
