Quantum Series Videowall Processing Systems • Introduction 4
• Image up-scaling and down-scaling — High performance image scaling
technology provides high quality up-scaling and down-scaling of high resolution RGB
or HD video signals.
• Solid state flash storage (Quantum Elite 615 only) — The Quantum Elite 615
model features CompactFlash-based data storage for the operating system and
image files. This avoids the need for a hard disk drive and delivers continuous system
operation and enhanced reliability. Write-protected flash storage eliminates the risk of
virus retention and allows for easy removal of data in secure environments.
• Quantum Control Software — The Quantum Elite Control Software and the
Quantum Connect Control Software are Microsoft
®
Windows
®
-based applications that
run on your computer and control the Quantum processors.
This software enables the Quantum to output multiple source signals to a display.
NOTE: Each Quantum model has its own control program. The Quantum Elite
Control Software cannot be used with Quantum Connect and vice versa.
• EDID Minder — The Extron EDID Minder automatically manages the Extended
Display Identification Data (EDID) for all the input sources. By default, input EDIDs
match the current output resolution of the processor. Also available is a user assigned
mode, which allows pre-stored EDIDs, based on user selected resolutions, to be
manually assigned to the sources. By maintaining continuous EDID communication
with all sources, EDID Minder ensures that all sources power up properly and maintain
their video outputs whether or not they are actively connected to the display device
through the Quantum outputs.
Using the Quantum Control Software you can set the EDID properties for each of the
inputs installed in your Quantum card frame as well as view the current EDID that has
been set for each input.
• Quantum Control Panel — The Quantum processor is a host device with Microsoft
Windows XP embedded. The Quantum Control Panel is a Windows-based program
that is resident on the Quantum internal disk or flash drive and enables you to
perform various setup tasks, such as setting the processor IP address or updating
its firmware. To view the Control Panel screens, attach a PS/2 or USB keyboard and
mouse and a monitor to the appropriate connectors on the rear panel.
• QC 101 Controller (optional) — The QC 101 C (for the Quantum Connect) and
the QC 101 E (for the Quantum Elite models) are optional controllers with embedded
operating systems. These controllers attach to a control system (such as the Extron
IPCP or IPL Pro via RS-232) and to the Quantum via Ethernet. The QC 101 C
connects to one Quantum Connect chassis, while the QC 101 E can connect to up
to eight Quantum Elite chassis via an Ethernet switch. The QC 101 controllers are
delivered with the Quantum Control Software loaded and can be used to create and
store configuration projects for the Quantum processors.
• Redundant, hot-swappable fans — An individual fan can be removed without
powering down the processor. The optimized cooling system requires no additional
rack space for ventilation.
• Redundant, hot-swappable power supplies (Quantum Elite 615 only) — Either
of two individual power supplies can be removed and replaced without the need to
power down the processor.
• Reliability — Content from connected video sources continues to display if a system
crash occurs. The system returns to its previous operational state when rebooted.
• Ethernet communication — An Ethernet port provides system control and
operation from a computer with the Quantum Control Software loaded.
