Troubleshooting
Error time-out on USB port
• Lost communication, check USB cable and connection.
• Check A/C power and On/Off Switch.
Error message on host computer
• Contact FARO’s Customer Service 800.736.2771 (North
America), 407.333.3182 (Worldwide), or FAX 407.333.8056.
Have the message ready.
Probe calibration fails
• Calibrate the probe again, and check that all points were
digitized properly.
• Make sure that probe tip is in contact with hole, or sphere.
• Use the other method (sphere or hole).
Buttons (FRONT & BACK) will not respond
• Make sure that all of the encoders are referenced. See
“Referencing the Encoders” on page 11.
• Turn auxiliary port OFF. See “Edit Probe” on page 31.
• Check buttons in Diagnostic command. See “Diagnostics” on
page 41.
Single-point certification shows excessive error
• You must use a ball probe. Check that it is installed correctly.
See “Installing Probes” on page 15.
• Recalibrate probe. See “Calibrate Probe” on page 33.
• During the test watch the probe to ensure flush seating in the
hole. See “Certification” on page 18.
