Multi-DENCO Technical Description
FläktGroup DC-2013-0101-GB • Subject to modifications • R5-08/2020 31
12 Chilled water valve & actuator
A variety of modulating ball valves are available with the Multi-DENCO units:
3-port valve
3-port valve with double regulating valve (DRV) in bypass
2-port valves
2-port pressure independent control (PIC) valves
All valves are fully modulating and are placed within the return water pipework. The ac-
tuators available come in 2 varieties:
Drive Open Drive Close (DODC)
0-10 V control
These options, combined with the variety of valves, ensure that you have a valve and
actuator combination that meets your needs.
The same valves and actuators are used for both the chilled water units (C-Version)
and the CombiCool circuits.
3.5.1 Other Components
EC Water Pump
(F-Version & P-Version Only)
This water pump circulates the water for the FreeCool circuit when the ambient tem-
perature is below a set value. The pump operation is controlled from the main unit con-
troller and can vary from 0-10 V, bringing energy saving potential when units are in low
operating modes in colder ambient temperatures.
Brazed Plate Heat
Exchanger (BPHE)
(W-Version Only)
This component enables heat transfer between the direct expansion refrigerant circuit
and the heat rejection water circuit. There are 4 connections to this device
(2 refrigerant, 2 water). The water flow is regulated through the BPHE to ensure that
there is neither too much or too little heat rejected from the refrigerant circuit.
Shell & Tube Heat
Exchanger
(P-Version Only)
This component enables heat transfer between the direct expansion refrigerant circuit
and the heat rejection water circuit. There are 4 connections to this device
(2 refrigerant, 2 water). The water flow is regulated through the Shell & Tube Heat
Exchanger to ensure that there is neither too much or too little heat rejected from the
refrigerant circuit.
Service Remote Interface
(Pump)
(P-Version Only)
When dispatched from the factory, the P-Version pump (contained within the Water-
Cool module) is correctly configured for operation. In fault finding, service or replace-
ment, it may be required to interrogate the pump’s operation which will require a
service remote.
If such support is required, please contact your local sales representative for details.
3.6 Heat rejection systems
A Multi-DENCO unit needs to be part of a system which includes heat rejection. There
are several different methods for heat rejection (depending on your Multi-DENCO unit)
and your local sales office can help you decide the best for your requirements.
