Multi-DENCO Installation
FläktGroup DC-2013-0101-GB • Subject to modifications • R5-08/2020 51
5.5.8 FreeCool Circuit
A suitable water strainer must be fitted as a part of the FreeCool Circuit. FläktGroup
recommend installing the water strainer on the "FreeCool IN" pipework of the indoor
unit, as close to the unit as practical. FläktGroup also recommends installing shut off
valves either side of the water strainer for easy serviceability.
5.5.9 Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)
If an ATS is required on an F-Version unit, it will be provided as a loose accessory.
Ensure this is located suitably and safely within the room and observe the contract spe-
cific wiring diagram. More information regarding the ATS can be found in chapter 7.
5.6 Installation of outdoor units
All warnings found in chapter 5.3 "Unit placement" also apply.
5.6.1 Requirements
Condensers are designed for outdoor installation
As standard, condensers can operate in temperatures as low as -20 °C
Winter kits are available for very low ambient conditions (downto-4C)
For condensers to be installed in a coastal region or an area of high corrosion,
ensure:
The unit is supplied with epoxy or LCE
®
coated coil
The outdoor unit has sufficient housing and protection from the elements of the
local environment
All pipework and interconnecting electrical cables are insulated and protected
from the environment
"Dry-Cooler & Hybrid" units, can be used in wide range of the ambient temperature
from (-20 to 35 °C).
For the Dry-Cooler (DMOUDW), it is necessary after brazing the pipework on the
inlet/outlet of the coil, to unpack the electric cable from the fan speed controller care-
fully and install the attached probe on the outlet of the coil.
NOTE!
It is mandatory to connect the Multi-DENCO indoor unit to a heat rejection unit. This
is achieved typically in six different forms, depending on the version used:
Condensers (DMOUCD)
Condensing units (DMOUUD) (including heat pumps)
Dry-Cooler (DMOUDW)
Hybrid unit "Condenser and Dry-Cooler" (DMOUHM)
Chiller
Plate heat exchangers
This chapter covers only the condensers (DMOUCD), (DMOUDW) & (DMOUHM).
Condensing units. (DMOUUD), Chiller and plate heat exchanger have a separate
installation manual that can be provided on request and is provided with the delivery
of the equipment. For all other varieties or equipment not purchased with a
Multi-DENCO unit, please refer to their independent manuals.
Outdoor condensers use exposed heat exchanger coils, which have thin metallic
fins. These fins can cause cuts to limbs.
Ensure cut protective PPE is worn.
Do not handle the condenser in the region where the coil is exposed.
