7. Rotate the pump shaft a minimum of 5 revolutions every two weeks to keep the bearings
coated with lubricant and to minimize the effects of brinelling.
8. Prior to start-up or installation, a Flowserve Pump Division Representative should be
hired to inspect all equipment to determine if any damage or deterioration of parts has
occurred and that the equipment is in "as shipped" condition.
PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
Inspect the pump. The winding insulation should be checked prior to installation; see Section III:
Insulation Testing. Any significant change in the insulation resistance should be investigated with a
Flowserve Pump Division Representative.
MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE
We recommend that the services of a Flowserve Pump Division Service Engineer or Flowserve Pump
Division Authorized Representative be employed for start-up of pump equipment. The purchaser is then
afforded the opportunity to receive adequate and authoritative instructions, validating the Flowserve
Pump Division warranty.
