SECTION I Complete when performing upgrades to existing FMUs and/or software.
PRE-UPGRADE
CAUTION
Do not proceed if any site equipment is not installed in accordance with NEC. (Consider the liability to
you and Syn-Tech Systems if you proceed without NEC compliance!)
1. Verify the FMU(s), all connected hoses, and all other site equipment are operational and
installed in accordance with the NEC (note any exceptions on page 6). Pre-inspect the work
area and previously installed FMUs for operation and compliance with NEC. This will
preclude liability for any non-operational equipment or non-NEC compliance after the
work is accomplished.
2. Download transactions from all FMUs to be upgraded. This prevents the loss of
transaction data stored in FMU memory.
3. Retrieve and record unit configuration and option bytes of installed FMUs to be upgraded.
Allows restoring same configuration and options after upgrade is completed.
UPGRADE SOFTWARE
4. Verify tasking is an upgrade (not a new install). New installs will not have an existing
database.
5. Verify an operational copy of the FuelMaster
®
software is currently installed, and an install
disk with the same software version is available. Upgrade will update existing software
and convert existing database to new function with updated software. Customer needs
software disk should it become necessary to reload software.
6. Disable any auto download settings and stop all services. Services may be restored after the
software upgrade, but verify services do not prevent proper Central Controller operation.
Auto download settings and some services may preclude successful upgrade.
Settings and services may be restored after upgrade.
7. Make a copy of the customer’s existing software database and save to the desktop. This is
the safest way to ensure the database is not lost or corrupted.
8. Upgrade the customer’s existing software through a local computer administrator log on. Full
administrative rights are necessary for successful software upgrade.
NOTE
In step 9, if not prompted “Database Conversion Finished” or if other errors occurred, discontinue
upgrade and call Syn-Tech’s Customer Satisfaction Center (CSC) at 800-888-9136, ext. 1500, for
assistance. (Any additional work performed after these errors occur may be lost during software
repair.)
9. When the upgrade is complete, restart the customer’s computer and verify the database
converted to the new software version. Changes may not be saved and take effect until
the computer is restarted. Restart computer and verify upgrade was successful by
accessing software, then clicking on HELP>About FuelMaster® Plus, and checking
version number.
