UPGRADE FMU(S)
10. Verify all fixed and mobile transactions (if applicable) were successfully downloaded. Some
older mobile systems would download to a master FMU. All transactions being stored
in the FMU should be downloaded into the customer’s database before the upgrade is
performed.
11. Turn off FMU power at the circuit breaker panel. Removing power at the circuit breaker is
the only way to remove power from all components of the FMU.
12. Upgrade the FMU(s). Install upgrade components in accordance with the Product
Bulletins forwarded with the parts.
13. Restore FMU power and use a laptop connection to (perform laptop connection in
accordance with Product Bulletin 111):
a. Initialize FMU (commands 02, FF). This will clear old configuration and site
signature.
b. Set/verify site signature (command 38), This will set mainboard to function with
customer’s software, Prokee
®
s, Smartcards, and AIM2™ modules.
c. Set system type and, if necessary, lock baud rate down (command 59). This will set
firmware system type to match software system type. Lower baud rates may
sometimes provide more reliable communications.
14. Using the customer’s computer, upload the site configuration, authorization list, and send
pricing. Verify the site configuration recorded in step 3 matches the customer’s software site
configuration. This will restore the same setup used by the customer with the previous
FMU configuration.
15. Use a laptop connection to reconnect to FMU(s) and verify the configuration, system options,
authorization list, and pricing were sent successfully. This will verify what was sent was
loaded into the FMU.
OPERATIONAL CHECKS
16. All FMU’s prompt the user to INSERT KEY OR CARD TO BEGIN. This is the default
prompt; indicates FMU is ready to begin a transaction. Second line of prompt may
instead display “INSERT KEY, WAIT 1 SECOND TO BEGIN” if no Smartcards or credit
cards are being used.
17. All FMU’s validated an authorized Prokee
®
/Smartcard, and user prompts to start a transaction
appear on LCD screen. Verifies FMU will correctly read authorized Prokee
®
/Smartcard
and initiate a transaction.
18. All FMU’s rejected an unauthorized Prokee
®
/Smartcard; “UNAUTHORIZED KEY
SIGNATURE…” prompt appeared on LCD screens. Verifies FMU will reject unauthorized
Prokee
®
/Smartcard, and prompt user with reason for rejection.
19. All FMU’s identify the pumps available for selection. The FMU will offer hoses with
products matching those encoded into the Prokee
®
or onto the Smartcard. Credit card
transactions will offer all hoses.
