Preface Features
Hard disk drives
The server is shipped with one of the following drive cages:
– For up to two 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hard disk drives:
Up to two SAS/SATA HDD modules can be used in the drive cage. Each
HDD module can accommodate an SAS/SATA hard disk drive with a
maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected to the SAS/SATA
backplane. This allows HDD modules to be easily plugged in or pulled out.
SATA hard disk drives are controlled by the onboard SATA controller. An
additional SAScontroller must be installed in order to control SAS hard disk
drives.
Mixed configurations of SAS and SATA HHDmodules in one drive cage are
not supported.
– For up to four 2.5-inch SAS/SATA hard disk drives:
Up to four SAS HDD modules can be used in the drive cage. Each HDD
module can accommodate a SAS hard disk drive with a 2.5-inch format. The
module is connected to the SAS backplane. This allows HDD modules to be
easily plugged in or pulled out.
The SAS hard disk drives are controlled by an integrated SAS PCI controller.
If the server has the corresponding RAID configuration, HDD modules can also
be replaced during operation.
Onboard SATA controller
A SATA controller is integrated on the system board; up to two SATA hard disk
drives can be connected to the controller. The LSI SATA RAID software
supports RAID levels 0 and 1.
