Features Preface
PCI SAS controller
To run a maximum of four SAS hard disk drives, the server is shipped with one
of the following PCI SAS controllers:
– PCI SAS controller with “Integrated Mirroring Enhanced” (IME)
IME supports RAID level 0, 1 and 1E configuration of the internal hard disk
drives.
I A separate utility is available to the controller for IME configuration.
Further information can be found in the “Integrated RAID for SAS
User’s Guide” (on the ServerBooks DVD under “Controllers”).
– PCI SAS controller with MegaRAID functionality
RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 5, 50, 6 and 60 are supported. If required, a BBU
(= battery backup unit) can save the memory content even if the power fails.
I A separate utility is available to the controller for RAID configuration.

ration Software User’s Guide” (on the ServerBooks DVD under
“Controllers”).
Accessible drives/components
A number of mounting locations are available:
– An installation slot for a ServerView Local Service Panel (optional)
– An installation slot for a slimline CD/DVD drive (optional)
The accessible drives/components integrated in this locations cannot be
replaced during operation.
USB ports
The two USB ports on the front of server support activities carried out by the
service technician. The maximum length of the external cable are three meters.
