4. Attach element assembly.
Lightly coat engine oil over the gasket on the
element assembly surface, then gently twist in
reverse direction by hand until the gasket con-
tacts the seal surface of the filter head .
There are four marks equally spaced on the
periphery of element assembly. Twist the ele-
ment as follows with these marks as reference.
5. Replenish engine oil from the oil filler.
After replacing the element assembly alone with-
out replacing the engine oil, replenish engine oil
from the oil filler as indicated in the table below.
6. Start the engine and check to be sure there are
no oil leaks.
7. Stop the engine and wait for at least 30 minutes,
then inspect oil level.
CAUTION
Be careful not to tighten the element assembly
too much. If overtightened, the element might
become damaged.
Replacement (element replacement type)
1. Place an oil receiving pan under the drain plug
of the oil filter, remove the drain plug and drain
out engine oil. After oil draining is completed,
attach and tighten the drain plug.
2. Loosen the center bolt and remove filter case
or element , etc.
3. Replace element, gasket , O-ring and wash-
ers with new products.
Use the element kit of MITSUBISHI genuine
parts for replacements.
4. Clean all other components not replaced.
5. Assemble each component to its original posi-
tion.
When attaching gasket and O-ring, lightly coat
them with engine oil so they will not twist.
CAUTION
If you twist and attach components, they might
be damaged.
