6. Attach and tighten center bolt.
7. Replenish engine oil.
After replacing the element alone without replac-
ing engine oil, replenish about 1 liter of engine oil
from the oil filler.
8. Start engine and inspect for oil leaks.
9. Stop engine and wait for at least 30 minutes,
then inspect oil volume.
4. FUEL FILTER ELEMENT
CAUTION
Fuel filter element must not be cleaned and
reused.
4.1 4D32, 4D33, 4D34T2 and 4D34T4 engine
vehicles
When replacing the fuel filter, open it through the
inspection port at the rear of the engine.
Tightening torque
39 to 49 Nm
(4.0 to 5.0 kgfm)
Replacement interval
4D3 engine vehicles
Every 25,000 km
(15,000 miles)
4M5 engine vehicles
Every 20,000 km
(12,000 miles)
WARNING
Wipe away spilled light oil thoroughly. Also,
always check for fuel leakage since it can
cause fires.
