2. Replacement
1. Remove the inspection plug and drain plug
and drain the oil.
Note: If you replace oil shortly after the engine has
been stopped, while the oil is still slightly
warm, it will drain out faster.
2. The drain plug is fitted with a magnet. Wipe off
any metal particles sticking to the magnet.
3. When all of the transmission gear oil has drained
out, install the drain plug.
4. Add oil though the inspection plug port until it
reaches to the brim.
5. Attach inspection plug.
18. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
The replacement time for new vehicle is after the
first 5,000 km (3,000 miles).
Recommended transmission fluid:
Automatic transmission fluid DEXRON III type.
18.1 Inspection
To check the oil level, check the “HOT” side of the
oil level gauge .
1. Park the vehicle on level ground, firmly apply the
parking brake, and apply chocks to the tires.
2. With the engine idling, step on the brake pedal
and shift the range selection lever in order
through all the ranges and then place the lever in
neutral . Open the transmission inspection
door.
3. With the engine running, pull out level gauge
and wipe it clean. Carefully reinsert and remove
the level gauge and then read the fluid level from
the gauge by noting how far up the gauge is
coated with fluid.
WARNING
Since the oil reaches very high temperature
after operation of the vehicle, exercise
extreme care when draining the oil.

54 to 84 Nm
(55 to 8.5 kgfm)
Fluid quantity Approx. 4.5 litres
Inspection time Every 10,000 km (6,000 miles)
Replacement time Every 40,000 km (24,000 miles)
