USINGELECTRONICIDS
TheScalecanbeusedwithanelectroniceartaggingsystem.Duringaweighing
sessionananimalcanbeidentifiedbyreadingitsElectronicID.Youcanuse
ElectronicIDsontheirown,ortheScalecanalsolinkandstoretheVisualTag
Numberthatidentifiesthesameanimal.TheVisualTagNumberiswhatever
alphanumeric(upto13characters)codethatyouchoosetoenteragainstan
ElectronicIDforagivenanimal.Itmightbebasedonthevisiblenumberprinted
ontheeartagoracombinationofthenumberandthecolouroftheeartag:
"1234"or"123RED"etc.
Setting up the Scale to use Electronic IDs
TheElectronicIDreaderconnectstooneoftheserialportsontheScale.As
describedinCommunications(p26),thisportmustbesettoreadEIDStandard.
CrossreferencingVisualTagNumbers
TheScalemaintainsacrossreferencetablethatlinksananimal'sElectronicID
withtheanimal'sVisualTagNumber.Onceitmakesthislink,theScale
rememberstheVisualTagNumberthenexttimetheElectronicIDisread.
TheScalecanstoreupto21000linksbetweenElectronicIDsandVisualTag
Numbers.Ifthelimitisexceeded,newlinksbetweenanElectronicIDandits
VisualTagNumbercannotbestored.Inthiscase,thenexttimetheElectronicID
isread,itsVisualTagNumberwillnotdisplay.Warningswillappearleadingupto
this.SeeMemoryfullwarning(p82).
