Problem 2: Some of the images acquired cannot be saved.
Figure 8-23 Image saving error pop-up message
Solution: Image installation and copy exam could fail if following anomalies exist in DICOM data
received from HIS/RIS system.
1.) Illegal date is present in DICOM tag (0010,0030) -> Patient Birth Date. Expected DICOM
format YYYYMMDD.
Examples of illegal values: 19860431(31st April 1986), 19850229(29th Feb 1985), 19941340
etc.
2.) For below mentioned DICOM Tags where BACKSLASH “\” is NOT allowed, if data received
from HIS/RIS contains BACKSLASH “\” AND length of the DICOM value exceeds the limit,
image installation could fail.
a.) Requested Procedure ID: (0040,1001), Limit: 64 characters.
b.) Accession Number: (0008,0050), Limit: 16 characters.
c.) Requested Procedure Description: (0032,1060), Limit: 64 characters.
d.) Patient Name: (0010,0010), Limit: 195 characters.
e.) Study Instance UID: (0020,000D), Limit: 64 characters.
Example: “Accession Number” -> (0008,0050): If value received from HIS/RIS is
“12121212\34343434” (there is a “\” present AND length is 17), then image installation could
fail.
If “\” present and length of value <= 16, image installation would be successful.
If “\” is not present but length of value > 16, then WL entry would be rejected.
