2.3 Engineering Toolkit
Problem: There are no software tools available if the PC hangs.
Solution/Workaround: There is a hot-key that will allow you to open an engineering user interface
to help diagnose an issue.
Here is the procedure to access this engineering GUI:
1.) Press <Ctrl> + <Shift> + <F5>.
2.) The following GUI will popup on the screen your mouse cursor is currently on (Left or Right):
Engineering User Interface Tool Screen
3.) Choose one of the following actions:
Item Description
Recording – Click this button (RED) to record the screen. Click this button (Green)
will stop the recording.
Xterm – Open a terminal (xterm). To close the Xterm session, type exit at the
prompt
DICOM – Import DICOM format images from CD/DVD.
Snapshot – This tool is used to sweep the system and create a file for engineering
analysis. This is a great tool to capture the system status when a failure occurs prior
to resetting the system. The Snapshot will be stored in /enggdata/Snapshots directory
of the PC.
It contains system resource usage information (ipcs, free, etc) plus log files from PC
and IDCs, plus dynamic config files, plus dicom node config, and ip looks.
Burn CD – This will burn the last few snapshots onto a CD. Only intended for field
use where connectivity is not possible.
Soft Reset – This will reset the software on the PC. This is similar to the
<Ctrl>+<Esc> sequence. System will be operational in 60 seconds or so. A full
system reset may be required to sync up the Positioner and IDCs.
Exit GUI – This will exit you out of the XR/d Engineering UI.
