Troubleshooting
J1939 NO ECU
COMMS
This fault indicates the ECU has
stopped communicating with the
Main Controller over the J1939
CAN bus. This can result from an
open/shorted CAN bus, loss of
ECU switched power, E-Stop
pushed, ECU fuse, etc.
The Main Controller failed
to communicate with the
ECU module after a
number of attempts (exact
number depends on ECU
setup).
This alarm automatically
clears after
communications have
been reestablished and
the alarm has been
acknowledged using the
Display.
J1939 ECU WAIT
TO START
This fault indicates the ECU is
requesting the system to wait
before cranking. This is normally
due to a preheat function such as
glow plugs.
Each ECU will have
different conditions for this
warning to occur.
Warning clears
automatically when the
ECU determines it is not
needed.
J1939 ACTIVE
ECU
PROTECTION
LIGHT
This warning indicates the ECU is
derating the engine performance
to protect it from damage. This is
normally due to temperatures or
pressures being out of the
optimal ranges, but each ECU
has its own conditions that it
uses.
This warning is set by the
ECU and each engine type
has different conditions that
set this.
This warning
automatically clears
when the ECU stops
setting it.
J1939 ACTIVE
ECU WARNING
LIGHT
This warning indicates the ECU
has detected an adverse
condition and has likely logged an
Suspect Parameter Code (SPN)
code. Each ECU has its own
conditions that it uses.
This warning is set by the
ECU and each engine type
has different conditions that
set this.
This warning
automatically clears
when the ECU stops
setting it.
J1939 ACTIVE
ECU MIL LIGHT
This alarm indicates the ECU has
detected a fault condition that
adversely affects emissions.
This alarm is set by the
ECU and each engine type
has different conditions that
set this.
Turn the keyswitch to
OFF. Verify the ECU is
no longer setting this
alarm. Clear the alarm
using the Display.
J1939 ACTIVE
ECU STOP LIGHT
This shutdown alarm indicates
the ECU has detected a fault
condition that requires the engine
to be stopped to protect it from
damage.
This shutdown alarm is set
by the ECU and each
engine type has different
conditions that set this.
Turn the keyswitch to
OFF. Verify the ECU is
no longer setting this
alarm. Clear the alarm
using the Display. Note
that some emissions
alarms are not clearable
until a number of
consecutive run cycles
without fault conditions
being true.
J1939 ECU
SHUTDOWN
This shutdown alarm indicates
the ECU has detected a fault
condition that requires the engine
to shut down. It then shuts down
the engine.
This shutdown alarm is set
by the ECU and each
engine type has different
conditions that set this.
Turn the keyswitch to
OFF. Verify the ECU is
no longer setting this
alarm. Clear the alarm
using the Display.
