OPERATION
• Before using the machine, always check, that all start inhibits and controls requiring operator
presence, are fully functional.
• Before using the machine do always a check - the device for stop the blades works correctly.
• Before using, always visually inspect to see that the blades, blade bolts and cutter assembly are
not worn or damaged. Replace worn or damaged blades and bolts in sets to preserve balance.
Use only original spare parts.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Property maintained lawn mower with sharp and
unused blades ensure clean cut and it will not get clogged.
• On multi-bladed machines, remember that the rotation of one blade can cause other blades
to rotate.
• Never use the machine with damaged guards, or without the safety protective devices in place.
• Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts.
• All drivers should seek and obtain professional and practical instruction. Such instruction should
emphasise:
– the need for care and concentration when working with ride-on machines;
– you cannot use the brake to regain control of a ride-on machine sliding down a slope
• The main reasons for loss of control are:
– insufficient wheel grip;
– overspeeding;
– inadequate braking;
– the type of machine is unsuitable for its task;
– unawareness of the effect of ground conditions, especially slopes;
– incorrect hitching and load distribution.
• While mowing, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the
equipment when barefoot or wearing open shoes.
• Before starting the engine, disengage the blades and shift into neutral.
• Disengage the blades before crossing surfaces other than grass or whenever they are not in
use..
• The lawnmower shall not be operated without either the entire grass catcher or self-closing
discharge opening guard in place. Keep away from the ejection hole at all times.
• Beware of the discharge deck and do not point it at any one.
• Always keep the grass ejection hole clean and clear. Remove cut material only when the
equipment is stopped.
• Use care when pulling loads or using heavy equipment:
– use only approved drawbar hitch points;
– limit loads to those you can safely control;
– do not turn sharply. Use care when reversing;
– use counterweight(s) or wheel weights whenever advised in the instructions manual.
• Do not carry passengers. The machine is only intended to be used by one person.
• Always look down and behind before and during reversing manoeuvres. Keep watch for both
large and small obstacles.
• Do not leave the equipment unattended in the workplace.
• Do not use the machine with damaged safety devices or screens or with missing, modified or
disabled safety systems. Do not work with machine that is damaged, incomplete, or has been
modified without the authorisation of the manufacturer.
