6 Removal and replacement procedures for
Authorized Service Provider parts

Accessing these parts can damage the computer or void the warranty.
Component replacement procedures
NOTE: Details about your computer, including model, serial number, product key, and length of warranty,
are on the service tag at the bottom of your computer. See Labels on page 11 for details.
This chapter provides removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider only parts.
There may be as many as 51 screws that must be removed, replaced, and/or loosened when servicing
Authorized Service Provider only parts. Make special note of each screw size and location during removal
and replacement.
Display panel
NOTE: Follow these procedures to replace the display bezel and display panel with the display assembly
installed on the computer. For procedures to replace the remaining display assembly subcomponents, see
Display assembly on page 63.

IMPORTANT: Make special note of each screw and screw lock size and location during removal
and replacement
Before removing the display panel, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 25).
Remove the panel:
1. Remove the plastic screw covers (1).
2. Remove the two Phillips M2.4×3.0 screws (2) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly.
3. Flex the inside edges of the bottom edge (3), the left and right sides (4), and the top edge (5) of the
display bezel until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure.
