Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic Discharge
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage or destroy electronic
components. Therefore, all work performed on assemblies consisting of
electronic components should be done at a static-free workstation.
Figure 1-3 is an example of a static-safe workstation using two kinds of
ESD protection:
Conductive table mat and wrist-strap combination.
Conductive floor mat and heel-strap combination.
These methods may be used together or separately.
