Factory Preset State and Memory Allocation
Save/Recall Memory Allocation
Memory traces are saved with the instrument state for each active
channel whose display is set to Memory, Data/Mem, or Data and Memory
in the menu.
Following are some examples:
state, saving instrument state only:
Size = 0 + 140 + 9580 = 9720
Using 201 points, with Data/Mem on channel 1, channel 2 off:
Size = 0 + 140 + 9580 + (8 × 201) = 11,328
Using 201 points, with Data/Mem on channel 1, channel 2 off, and
saving both the instrument state and data:
Size = 0 + 140 + 9580 + (8 × 201) + 178 + (8 × 201) = 13,114
Same as above, but after performing a two-port calibration and
saving the calibration:
Size = 0 + 140 + 9580 + (8 × 201) + 178 + (8 × 201) + 246 +
(12 × 8 × 201) = 32,656
NOTE Most disks use a sector size of 256 or 512 bytes, so there will usually be a
small amount of wasted space on the disk.
Memory Usage Notes
In general, memory usage increases with number of points and
complexity of information saved.
One-port reflection calibrations use more memory than transmission
calibrations because they use more error arrays.
Two-port calibrations use more memory than other calibration types.
When multiple types of information are saved together, the total can be
less than indicated above because redundant internal information is
eliminated.
