Hot-plug SAS hard drive
To remove the component:
CAUTION: For proper cooling do not operate the server without the access panel, baffles,
expansion slot covers, or blanks installed. If the server supports hot-plug components, minimize
the amount of time the access panel is open.
1. Determine the status of the hard drive from the hot-plug SAS hard drive LED combinations ("SAS and
SATA hard drive LED combinations" on page 91).
2. Back up all server data on the hard drive.
3. Remove the hard drive.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
Power supply blank
To remove the component:
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
1. Access the product rear panel (on page 28).
2. Remove the power supply blank.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the power supply or
power supply blank to cool before touching it.
