To prevent mechanical damage or depositing oil on your hands or other contaminant to the heatsink contact
surface, hold the heatsink only by the edge of its base plate. Do not touch the heatsink fins.
CAUTION:CAUTION:
The heatsink fan does not have a fan guard. Special attention is needed when removing or installing the heatsink to
prevent finger injury.
CAUTION:CAUTION:
Heatsink screws must be tightened and loosened in alternating sequence. Do not overtighten the screws as this
might damage the system board or the processor socket.
a. Disconnect the heatsink fan cable (callout 1).
b. Use a T-15 Torx screwdriver to loosen one pair of diagonally opposite screws, and then loosen the other pair of screws (callouts
2 and 3).
c. Lift the heatsink away from the system board (callout 4).
13. Use an alcohol wipe to remove the existing thermal grease from the heatsink and processor.
Allow the alcohol to evaporate before continuing.
14. Open the processor load plate:
a. Push the processor locking lever down to unclip it, and then pivot it to the vertical position (callout 1).
b. Open the processor load plate (callout 2).
