Power supply modes
Power supply modules configuration
When the x4 RPS kit is installed and 3+1 power supply redundancy is selected, for minimum
non-redundant configuration at least three power supply modules must be installed in the server. For
full redundancy four power supply modules are required.
When the x4 RPS kit is installed and 2+2 power supply redundancy is selected, for minimum
non-redundant configuration at least two power supply modules must be installed in the server. For
full redundancy four power supply modules are required.
If more than two GPU cards are installed then the X4 RPS Enablement Kit must be installed to have
enough GPU power connectors.
If more than three SFF hard drive cages are installed, then the X4 RPS Enablement Kit must be installed
in order to have enough drive power connectors.
The x4 Redundant Power Supply Enablement (RPS) Kit only supports the HPE 800 W and HPE 1400 W
Flex Slot Platinum hot-plug power supplies.
Selecting the power supply mode
When the x4 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit is installed, system power supply capacity
increases from 2 to 4 PSUs, and the system can be configured for 1 or 2 different power sources. In the
default 3+1 mode one PSU is redundant. Select 2+2 power supply mode to support power supplied from
two different power sources.
System ROM must be upgraded to P92 v2.30 for power supply mode selection to be available.
To select a power supply mode:
1. Reboot the server.
The server restarts and the POST screen appears.
2. Press F9.
The system utilities screen appears.
3. Select System Configuration BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) Advanced Options
Redundant Power Supply Mode, and then press Enter.
4. Select Configured for 3+1 Redundancy or Configured for 2+2 Redundancy and then press
Enter.
5. Press F10 to save the selection.
6. Press Y to save the changes.
7. Select Exit and resume system boot, and press Enter. The server continues the normal boot
process.
