Polarity test on shared DC Bus network wiring with SM141D motors and
CPH400B drives
Each time a connection is made on the shared DC Bus to the machine (for example: extending the
power supply cable of the SM141D/CPH400B, node connecting several cables with the shared DC
Bus) it is always advisable to check the correct correspondence between the pinout and the power
cable conductors.
Extension of power cable with shared DC Bus to one SM141D motor or CPH400B
drive only
Instruments necessary: digital multimeter.
Before making any connections, carry out the following checks on the extended cable:
continuity test on all conductors from one end of the cable to the other, in order to check the
continuity at the connectors and the correspondence between the pinouts.
continuity test to detect any short-circuits between conductors (including earth and the two
shields short-circuited on the metal casing of the conductor).
The following test is carried out after having connected the extension to the SM141D / CPH400B.
Node at which two or more power cables arrive with shared DC Bus
Instruments necessary: digital multimeter.
Check to carry out on the node:
continuity test on all conductors from one end of the node to the other (for all ends, i.e. for all
the connectors involved), in order to check the continuity at the connectors and the
correspondence between the pinouts.
continuity test to detect any short-circuits between conductors (including earth and the two
shields short-circuited on the metal casing of the conductor).
