Fault description: A newly deployed UA5000 connects a switch directly through the ETH0 port
on the IPMD board. After the port is connected, the port fails to be activated.

Cause
Analysis:
1. The Ethernet cable is damaged.
2. The peer Ethernet port is faulty.
3. The IPMD port configuration is incorrect or the IPMD board is faulty.
Handling
Process:
1. Replace the straight-through Ethernet cable with a crossover cable. The port is still not
activated.
2. Connect the Ethernet cable connected to the IPMD board directly to a PC. The port is
activated. This indicates the peer end is normal. Connect the PC with the IPMD directly,
the port is not activated. This indicates that the problem lies in the IPMD board.
Because the IPMD board supports both electrical and optical upstream ports, a port
configuration error is suspected. In the IPM mode, run the command
display port state 0 to check the state of port 0:
