13.11 Checking the steering head bearing play

Danger of accidentsIncorrect steering head bearing play impairs the handling characteristic and
damages components.
Correct incorrect steering head bearing play immediately. (Your authorized Husqvarna Motorcy-
cles workshop will be glad to help.)
Info
If the vehicle is operated for a lengthy period with play in the steering head bearing, the bearings and the
bearing seats in the frame can become damaged over time.
Preparatory work
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 45)

Main work
Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position. Move the
fork legs to and fro in the direction of travel.
Play should not be detectable on the steering head bear-
ing.
» If there is detectable play:
Adjust the steering head bearing play. ( p. 52)
Move the handlebar to and fro over the entire steering range.
