let
it
acclimate
to
the

for
as
long
as
it
has
been
away
from
the

or
for
24
hours,
whichever
is
less.
Handling
Static-Sensitive
Devices
Attention:
Storage
devices
drives
are
sensitive
to
static
electricity
discharge.
To
prevent
damage,
when
handling
a
storage
device
drive
wrap
it
in
an
antistatic
bag.
Take
the
following
precautions:
v
Do
not
remove
the
drive
from
its
antistatic
bag
until
you
are
ready
to
install
it.
v
With
the
drive
still
in
its
antistatic
bag,
touch
it
to
the
metal
frame
of
an
electrically
grounded
surface.
v
Hold
the
drive
by
the
frame.
Avoid
touching
the
solder
joints
or
pins.
v
Handle
the
drive
carefully
to
prevent
permanent
damage.
Manually
Removing
a
Tape
Cartridge
If
a
power
failure
or
a
drive
failure
prevents
the
tape
cartridge
from
ejecting,
the
cartridge
can
be
removed
manually.
Before
manually
removing
the
tape
cartridge,
reset
the
autoloader
to
clear
potential
error
conditions
and
try
all
procedures
available
to
remove
the
tape
cartridge.
If
the
tape
does
not
eject,
proceed
with
the
manual
removal.
Attention:
The
procedure
that
follows
may
result
in
damage
to
your
tape
cartridge.
If
you
use
this
procedure,
you
must
replace
the
drive.
If
you
choose
to
return
the
drive
and
the
stuck
tape
to
IBM
for
maintenance,
the
tape
will
be
scrapped.
The
procedure
for
removing
a
tape
cartridge
varies
for
the
following
two
conditions:
v
Standby
position
-
with
the
bridge
moved
away
from
the
cartridge
v
Locked
position
-
with
the
bridge
engaged
to
the
cartridge
To
determine
which
position
the
tape
unit
is
in,
open
the
tape
unit
door
and
check
the
location
of
the
bridge.
To
manually
remove
a
tape
cartridge:
1.
Perform
the
drive
removal
procedure.
Refer
to
the
7212
Model
102
Storage
Device
Enclosure
Setup
and
Operator
Guide.
2.
Place
the
tape
drive
assembly
on

flat
work
surface
and
