8. Press the locking tab and lift the backplane out of the server.
9. Disconnect the power cable and the signal cable from the disk drive
backplane.
10. If you are instructed to return the backplane, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
Installing the hot swap backplane or simple swap backplate
To install the 3.5-inch replacement backplane or backplate, complete the following
steps:

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 39.
2. Connect the power cable to the replacement backplane or backplate.
3. Slide the backplane or backplate into the card guides, making sure not to trap
or pinch any nearby wires or cables.
