3.13 License Keys; Key Administration
The License Keys submenu allows the user to add and delete feature functionality that
is sold as an add-on to the switch.
Note: The following instructions detail adding a six port upgrade to a 12300-BS18 switch. The
user may add up to three upgrades (with three separate license keys), bringing the
total active port count to 36. The general guidelines are:
• Cable ports 1 – 18 are the default, active ports.
• A license key is not specific to a set of ports. The number of installed keys increases
the number of active ports by six. For example:
— If one license key is installed, ports 19-24 become active
— If two keys are installed, ports 19-24 and 25-30 become active.
— If one license key is removed, ports 25-30 become inactive.
3.13.1 Adding a New License Key
1. Click License Keys.
The Key Administration button is displayed (Figure 3-77).
2. Click Key Administration.
The Key Management window is displayed (Figure 3-78).
3. To add a new license key, click the Add Key button.
The License Key Management Information window is displayed (Figure 3-79).
