Chapter 7 Intelis Gas Meter Index Replacement
Warning: The Intelis Gas Meter index assembly is a static sensitive device. Avoid
contact with the feed through connector pins on the index assembly. It is important to
take ESD precautions when the index assembly is replaced. To ensure the Intelis
Gas Meter retains consumption data, switch the Intelis Gas Meter to Factory Ship
Mode prior to index replacement.
Index replacement instructions are included with each shipment of replacement indexes
(Intrinsic Safety Control Drawing Index Module Replacement Intelis Gas Meter
TDC-0908-009).
Caution: After an index assembly is replaced, you must perform a valve operation to
place the automatic shut off valve in the desired state using FDM Tools. If the
desired valve state is open, send an FDM Tools Reconnect command. Conversely,
if the desired state is closed, send an FDM Tools Disconnect command. The Intelis
Gas Meter index may only be replaced using the UL classified replacement index kit
(Itron part number ERG-7100-105).
Replacing the Intelis Gas Meter index assembly
Important: Program the integrated 500G communications prior to replacing the index. The
illustrations in these instructions do not show the gas pipes connected to the meter. Perform
an LCD Test prior to replacing the index assembly with the new index to verify the display is
working properly. For more information, see Performing an LCD test on page 20.
