models)
Note: the engine fitted
to
.10 and .12 models
is
equipped with glow-plugs which
sense
coo-
lant temperature within
the
engine. These operate automatically
to
warm
the
air
in
the inlet
manifold
to
atemperature sufficient
to
allow normal combustion
to
occur
for
starting
in
low
temperatures. The glow-plugs operate when the coolant temperature
falls
below
2°e.
Insert
the
key
in
ignition switch and
turn
clockwise
to
position I (MAR).
Ifthe engine coolanttemperature
is
in
excess
of2°e,
the
glow-plugs will
not
be required
to
operate.
In
this
case,
the glow-plug warning light will
flash
once
to
act
as
a check
of
the system.
Ifthe engine coolant temperature
is
in
below
2°e,
the glow-plugs will operate and
the
warning light illuminate
for
approximately
35
to
40 seconds.
After
this time, the warning light will
flash
flash
for
6
to
10
seconds.
Whilethe warning light
is
flashing,
start
the
engine, without depressing the accelerator
pedal,
by turning
the
key
to
position 2
(AW).
During starter
motor
engagement, the
warning light will remain illuminated.
Ifthe engine does
not
start, repeat
the
cold starting procedure.
When
the engine
has
started,
the
warning light will
flash
for
30
to
40 seconds, while
the
glow-plugs perform
an
after-heating function,
to
ensure that
the
intake air
has
reached
a sufficiently high temperature
to
allow normal combustion
to
occur.
Heated
fuel
filter
(where fitted)
At
ambienttemperatures
of
below 6°C, a heating elementwithin the fuel filter heats the fuel
to
assist
starting
in
low
temperatures.
