1. Park the mower safely. (See “Park Mower Safely” on
page 1-7.)
2. Remove the yoke assembly and mounting bracket.
(See “Yoke Assembly” on page 8-45.)
3. Remove the motor coupler (17).
4. Remove snap ring (16) from reel shaft (5).
NOTE
Do not remove bearing cone (13) unless it is necessary
to replace the bearing (14). Always replace the bearing
and bearing cone as a set.
5. Remove spring (15) and bearing (14) from bearing
housing (18).
6. Remove socket-head screw (19) from shoulder bolt
(23).
7. Remove the hex stover lock nut (7) and washer (6)
from adjusting nut (1)
8. Remove (unscrew) adjusting nut (1) from adjusting
screw (2).
9. Remove (unscrew) the adjusting screw (2) from the
shoulder bolt (23).
10. Remove lock nut (20), washer (21) from shoulder bolt
(23).

CAUTION
11. Rotate the bearing housing (18) up, so that the
shoulder bolt (23) is at the top of the adjustment slot
(22), and remove the shoulder bolt from the bearing
housing (18) and cutting unit frame (4).
12. Remove lock nut (3), screw (10), pivot bushing (9),
and wave washer (8) from the bearing housing (18)
and cutting unit frame (4).
13. Remove the bearing housing (18) from the reel shaft
(5) and cutting unit frame (4).
14. Remove oil seal (12) and washer (11) from the
bearing housing (18).
15. Inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace parts
as needed.
Installation Notes
• Install the bearing housing by reversing the order of
removal.
• Install a new oil seal (12) during installation.
• Apply grease to bearing before installation. (Refer to
“Safety, Operation, and Maintenance Manual” for
grease specifications.)
• Adjust the bedknife-to-reel contact. (Refer to “Safety,
Operation, and Maintenance Manual”.)
To prevent personal injury, use caution when
working near the reel.
