6. Remove starter motor (6). (See “Starter Motor” on
page 4-75.)
7. Remove screw (7), lock washer (8), and flat washer
(9), and remove ground strap (10) from engine block.
8. Remove air cleaner assembly. (See “Air Cleaner
Assembly” on page 3-8.)

NOTE
Plug the fuel hose after removing to prevent spillage of
fuel.
9. Loosen hose clamp (12), and disconnect fuel hose
(11) from injection pump
10. Disconnect wiring connector (15) from fuel shutoff
solenoid (13).
11. Disconnect throttle cable (14) at injector pump. (See
steps 1 through 6 of “Throttle Cable and Control
Lever” on page 3-17.)

12. Remove flanged nut (17), and disconnect wire (16)
from glow plug strip (18).
NOTE
Plug the fuel hose after removing to prevent spillage of
fuel.
13. Loosen hose clamp (19), and disconnect fuel return
hose (20) from fuel injectors.

• Record the number and location of washers or
spacers located between the fuse bracket and
engine.
• Some applications may use spacers instead of flat
washers between the plate and engine.
14. Remove two screws (21), lock washers (22), flat
washers (23), and washers or spacers (24).
