Scanning for WiFi networks
The WiFi Network Scan is used to determine whether any WiFi networks are available, and
provides the SSIDs, level and channel of any networks detected.
To run a network scan
1 From the WiFi Tools menu, select WiFi Scan.
The test will start searching for active WiFi networks. The WiFi search process may take a few
seconds.
After WiFi search is finalized, results are gathered and displayed. A sample result screen is
shown in Figure 13.
Table 12 describes the WiFi summary results.
To select a located network, use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the network.
2 To view a histogram of the network, press the * key. A sample screen is shown in Figure 14.
The signal power over time is shown in graphical form.

Results Description
SSID The Service Set Identifier of the specific wireless network
Ch WiFi channel being used by the specific network
Enc. The security encryption being used on the WiFi network
Signal The signal power level of the selected WiFi Network
