6.11. Feed rolls gear box
Attention!
Replacement gear boxes are provided without oil. Before putting into service the
gearbox needs to be filled with oil!
Check the oil level at the gauge-glass weekly.
After the first 50 operating hours an oil change needs to be done.
Mineral and synthetic oils can be used for the gear boxes.
In the first operating hours a light oil film can build up on the shaft or around the bleed
air valve. This minimal oil spill is necessary and uncritical.
Oil change
Only perform oil change when oil has operating temperature. Place proper container
underneath the drain. Remove drain and filler screw. Drain oil completely. Screw in
drain screw, fill in oil up to the middle of the gauge-glass. Screw in filler screw.
Do not mix up synthetic and mineral oil!
Recommended oil for gear boxes manufacturer AKB: Total Carter EP 220 (ISO-VG-
220).
Recommended oil for gear boxes manufacturer Röchling: SAE 85W-140 Super Fuchs
Gear (ISO-VG 320).
Filling quantity: AKB: 1,5 l
Röchling: 2 l
