4. Working with the woodchipper
4.6.1.2 Turning off the motor
1. Put the throttle in lowest position.
2. Wait for the motor to achieve idle speed.
3. Turn the key counterclockwise into position 0 (off) and pull the key off.
4.6.1.3 Motor with disengageable clutch (optional)
De-clutch the clutch only to start the motor, after starting the motor or for standstill or
brake clutch in.
4.7 Starting up the machine
Put the safety bar into “stop” position. Start up the machine with low rotational speed
(idle speed), afterwards rise the engine speed. Especially for tractors with automatic
PTO shaft, make sure that the machine is not turned on too quickly; otherwise the
components of the drive (PTO, belts) are overused.
Check the function of the safety bar in all positions. For machines with different safety
controls check the function of all safety controls.
Check whether all safety and adjustment functions work. Have the points „setting up
the woodchipper“ and „before starting up the machine“ been followed? Then the infeed
can be put in the intake position and the work with the machine can begin.
4.8 While working with the machine
4.8.1 Feeding the machine
For manual feeding: Always stay clear of the moving parts of the infeed.
Do not stand, sit or lean on the infeed chute. Danger of injuries!
Feed the material in a way so that the danger of being pulled in is avoided.
Brush wood should be fed in with the trunk end first to avoid blocking of the infeed. As
far as possible feed the material in way that the safety bar is not being pushed into
“stop” position by the infed material by mistake.
Many-branched branches should be sawed to avoid blocking of the infeed.
Important!
For machines without overload safety device: If it comes to a significant drop down of
the knife disk speed the infeed must be stopped until the speed is back to normal.
4.8.2 In case of danger or accident
In case of danger by pulled in items or accident e.g. persons getting pulled in or other
reasons put the safety bar into „stop“ position immediately to stop the infeed. Optional
also different devices can be used to stop the infeed (palm switch, touch keys,
emergency switch. The operator has to familiarize himself with the position and the
function of these devices before starting work with the machine.
