6 Repairs & maintenance
This chapter contains information about maintenance and fault rectification and a
description of the service module.
6.1 Cleaning the housing
Observe the following points to prevent damage to the housing and the read
window of the biometric reader (if present) when cleaning the device.
• Do not use alcohol-based products such as ethanol or isopropanol
• Do not use aggressive cleaning products
• Do not use any cleaning products containing a powder additive
• Avoid scratching and scouring, instead
• use a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild window cleaner
6.2 Changing the battery
The device uses a type CR2032 lithium-manganese-dioxide battery for storing
parameters, master records and other data records. The battery is situated on the
rear of the terminal housing and can be accessed by removing the device from the
docking station.
The buffer battery must be replaced by a new one every two years.
