6.5 Fault rectification
In the event of faults or other problems, work through this checklist to localise the 
problem. Contact technical customer service if you are still unable to rectify the 
fault.
Symptom Possible causes Measures
Switch on the terminal.
The IP address 169.254.xx.yy 
is displayed.
Terminal is not connected to 
the network.
Check that the network cable 
is plugged in. Restart the 
terminal
Terminal did not start 
correctly.
Restart the terminal
Port Security is active. Ask IT to enable the MAC 
address of the terminal.
Starting B-COMM Java. 
BCLAN01 does not start (red).
B-COMM Java services not 
started.
1. Right-click on My 
Computer
Manage Device Manager 
Service/Applications
2. Restart Kaba Terminal to 
KEM Feeder.
3. Restart BCLAN01.
Several network cards 
present - wrong one 
configured.
B-COMM Java services must 
be installed manually. 
Contact your support team.
Starting B-COMM Java. 
Message: B-COMM Java 
Server is down.
B-COMM Java services not 
started.
1. Right-click on My 
Computer
Manage Device Manager 
Service/Applications
2. Restart Kaba Terminal to 
KEM Feeder.
No terminals displayed in 
Terminal Discovery.
Terminal not yet connected 
to the network (delayed).
1. Right-click on Terminal 
Discovery.
2. Refresh.
3. Repeat as necessary until a 
terminal is displayed.
Communication between 
terminal and network 
prevented by firewall.
Ask IT to enable UPD port 
1900.
Several network cards 
present - wrong one 
configured.
B-COMM Java services must 
be installed manually.
