Installing and configuring B-COMM Java User manual
5 Installing and configuring B-COMM Java
The chapter describes how to install the B-COMM Java software and commission
the terminal.
5.1 Installing Kaba evolo Manager
The Kaba evolo Manager software package must be installed before the B-COMM
Java software. This ensures that the driver for the desktop reader is installed (the
desktop reader is required to read the site key).
5.2 Connecting the terminal and PC
Connect the terminal and the PC to the network using an Ethernet cable and
connect the power supply to the terminal (see section 3.9 Installation preparations
on page 14).
The following will appear on the display when the terminal is switched on:
• Serial number: e.g. 000000014
• IP address: e.g. 10.3.5.143
Make a note of these items, as they will be required for configuration purposes.
5.3 Installing B-COMM Java
A user with Administrator rights has to install the program.
Deactivate any firewall programs.
1. Run the "Setup.exe" file in the "Kaba evolo Terminal" folder on the CD supplied.
2. B-COMM Java is installed automatically and the program also starts
automatically as soon as installation is complete.
If you should accidentally close the program after it has been installed, you can
restart it from the directory "C:\Program Files\Kaba\B-COMM Java\bcommgui.bat".
Once B-COMM Java has been started, the connected terminal is shown in the
Terminal Discovery area.
Compare the serial number and the IP address with that of your terminal.
