Connect QuNeo to an iPad
The QuNeo LEDs typically draw more power than the iPad can power alone, though you
can put QuNeo into iPad mode and the LEDs will draw less power. So the iPad can be
connected in 2 ways; one way that allows the LEDs their full brightness, and one way that
does not require a wall wart.
QuNeo to iPad with Remote Power Kit
(full LED brightness)
The image to the right shows QuNeo connected to
an iPad using the QuNeo Remote Power Kit (sold
separately through our online store: http://
store.keithmcmillen.com/). This includes a Y USB
cable and a power supply. You will also need the
iPad Camera Connection Kit (sold by Apple:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A).
QuNeo to iPad
(lower LED brightness)
The image to the right shows QuNeo connected to
the iPad without a remote power kit. You will
need to put the QuNeo into iPad mode (see
below). You will also need the iPad Camera
Connection Kit (sold by Apple: http://
store.apple.com/us/product/MC531ZM/A).
Put QuNeo into iPad Mode:
To put QuNeo into iPad Mode, hold down the
four central pads (shown to the right) while
plugging the QuNeo into the iPad. The LEDs
should swipe a little dimmer than usual.
iPad Mode will persist between plug-ins. So if
you set QuNeo to iPad mode once, you won’t
have to do it again the next time. If you
would like to take it out of iPad Mode, hold
down the same four central pads while
plugging the QuNeo in again.
The Newer iPad (iPad 4) provides more current to peripheral devices, enabling more LEDs
simultaneously to be illuminated. Previous versions of iPad and iPads with older batteries
will support fewer LEDs simultaneously.
