Installation
Capacitance Compensation When Using Switching Matrix
Required Conditions
The following conditions must be satisfied to use the capacitance compensation
function. For the instrument connections, see Figure 3-22.
• Setting of the MFCMU
• Range of the measurement frequency: 1 kHz to 5 MHz
• Measurement function: Cp-G, Cp-D, Cs-Rs, or Z-Th. There is no limitation.
• Calibration
Perform the MFCMU open calibration at the end of the measurement paths
in front of the switching matrix inputs. If you also perform the short
calibration (optional), prepare the BNC thru adapter (Keysight part number
1250-0080, 1 ea.).
• Total cable length of both Hc-Hp side and Lc-Lp side must be the same.
• Switching matrix input ports
Use Keysight N1300A CMU cable to connect the MFCMU. The BNC-T
adapters (2 ea., Keysight part number 1250-2405 for each) are required to
connect between the Hc and Hp terminals and between the Lc and Lp terminals.
Connect the Hc-Hp cable and the Lc-Lp cable as follows. It is ok to leave open
the ground wire extended from the CMU cable.
Hc-Hp: Input 13 (B2200A/B2201A) or AUX INPUT CV1 (E5250A)
Lc-Lp: Input 14 (B2200A/B2201A) or AUX INPUT CV2 (E5250A)
• Switching matrix output terminals
Use the Keysight 16494A triaxial cable to extend the outputs to the connector
plate or the Keysight B2220A probe card interface (only for B2200A/B2201A).
For the Kelvin connection, use the Keysight 16494B/C Kelvin triaxial cable.
• Ahead of the connector plate
Recommended cable: Keysight part number 8121-1191 Triaxial cable
You can also use another type of triaxial cable, coaxial cable, or combination of
these.
To approximate the capacitance/conductance of the DUT, you need to obtain the
appropriate compensation coefficients for your measurement environment, and
create your compensation data file. See Figure 3-22.
